Tuesday, November 2, 2010 – The Surreal Sun

This is an odd time of year. The usual high pressure dome is stalled over Las Vegas – that drives the hot wind full of dust and alkali across the desert and screaming through the mountain passes and into the LA basin, where it sits and stews with the local photochemical smog. So it's hot and everything is gritty and electric. It makes everything seem unreal, or too real. Looking at LA from the far end of the Venice Beach Pier –
