Thursday, June 26, 2008 – About the Visual
What catches your eye in Hollywood is most often connected with the entertainment industry, naturally, or the history of the place – the haunts of the stars of yesterday and all that – or reminds you of the strangeness of Los Angeles itself – a cultural curiosity, so deeply American and at the same time so surreal – about which everyone seems to have an opinion. And there's always noting where Paris Hilton hangs out or current trends on the Sunset Strip. But sometimes what catches your eye has nothing to do with anything in particular – just the odd light, the colors, the angles and shapes. You shut down all that thought about just what you're seeing and how it connects to this or that - and you just see things, as they are, meaning nothing in particular. Maybe it's Zen thing.
