Just Above Sunset Photography is a spin-off of the weekly web magazine Just Above Sunset that ran from May 26, 2003 through March 11, 2007. That weekly ceased publication and was replaced by this site and a "continuously updated" commentary site, with a new format - Just Above Sunset Commentary.
This site is devoted to photography alone.
The Just Above Sunset World Headquarters, as it were, are a little way up in the Hollywood Hills, just east of Laurel Canyon. That's just above Sunset Boulevard, thus the domain name. Since 2003 efforts here have generated a massive portfolio of local photography - everything from architectural studies to what seems to be "real life" here in Hollywood, and Hollywood history, to the beaches, to the array of odd Los Angeles neighborhoods, to nature photography with a special emphasis on local botanicals. And along with extensive architecture studies - from Hollywood in the Art Deco Golden Age to the severely modern - there are all the strange cars out here. And there are those special events, like the Rose Parade and various premiers at the Chinese Theater. And there was that ride in the Goodyear Blimp and in a restored World War II bomber. For a photographer out here, this is a target-rich environment.
It's all here, and new photographs will be added daily. Almost all these copyrighted shots are available in the original large-format raw files and can be purchased for your use, or can be purchased as prints, and even sized to your requirements and framed. What appears in these pages has been modified for web posting using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 - the originals have far greater detail.
If you wish to use any of these photos for commercial purposes I assume you'll discuss that with me. And should you choose to download any of these images and use them invoking the "fair use" provisions of the Copyright Act of 1976, please provide credit, and, on the web, a link back this site.
