Saturday, June 9, 2007 – Absurdist Blooms
Absurd-looking blooms. Location – almost Beverly Hills, Doheny and Alden (Beverly Hills adjacent, as they say), a few steps from the Four Seasons Hotel (where, speaking of absurdity, Mel Gibson was talked into doing "Hamlet" by Franco Zeffirelli, and where, in 1996, a year and a half before his death, Frank Sinatra celebrated his eightieth birthday – he and Steve Lawrence, Eydie Gorme, Robert Wagner, Jill St. John, and Tony Bennett gathered around the piano singing the old tunes).
The blooms here range from yellow to white for some reason - genetics or the level of exposure to the brutal Southern California sun.
