Tuesday, November 6, 2007 – At the Treehouse

Some readers will remember the house in the trees, chronicled by musician-mason-writer Phillip Raines, and friend from Georgia. He's been back - a view of the river from high in the branches, "the reflection is vibrant."

"I thought this was a hawk, but maybe an owl.  He hung out with me at the treehouse for quite a while reading over my shoulder."

Red-shouldered Hawk

From our friend the birder, up in New York – "Red-shouldered Hawk. Great shots. 'This small forest buteo [type of hawk distinguished by shape], usually found near water, hunts mainly mammals and some reptiles and amphibians from perches.' Glad to know the treehouse survives!"

It does.
