Saturday, August 2, 2008 – Chrysanthemums

Chrysanthemums in pot in the courtyard of the county art museum down on Wilshire Boulevard – probably having something to do with the current exhibition of Japanese art – "The Age of Imagination: Japanese Art, 1615–1868."  Who doesn't like the Edo Period?

And of course the Emperor sits on the Chrysanthemum Throne.  The Chrysanthemum Crest is the name given to the position of Japanese emperor, and the chrysanthemum is badge or crest of the emperor of Japan – so the flower represents the emperor and Imperial House.  But you knew that.
