Man Ray (1890-1976, born Emmanuel Radnitzky) spent most of his career in Paris, a significant contributor to both the Dada and Surrealist movements, even if his ties to each were rather informal. He's best known for his avant-garde photography, as in this. He died in Paris on November 18, 1976, and was buried in the Cimetière du Montparnasse. His epitaph reads "unconcerned, but not indifferent."
From 1940 until 1951 he lived here in Hollywood.
From Man Ray: American Artist by Neil Baldwin – "Settling in at the Lido Hotel on Yucca at Wilcox in Hollywood, he began to feel more relaxed and resigned to the open-endedness of his stay."
Hollywood is like that. There's a character called "Man Ray" in SpongeBob SquarePants.
