Thursday, April 3, 2008 – Ocean Spray (with birds)

Ocean Spray with birds is not a new culinary treat.  It's just that when you're feeling a bit down it's best to get yourself down to the ocean, and stare a bit. The waves crashing on the rocks helps – it's dramatic and probably symbolic of something or other. It seems fitting – but it's just what happens all the time at the Venice Beach breakwater.  Knowing that the smooth rolling waves forever blow apart, one right after another, can be oddly comforting.  Life is like that, if you wish. And what the heck – you can get some good pictures.  Think of them as symbolic, or don't.

The lenses used are (1) AF-S Nikkor 18-70 mm 1:35-4.5G ED, or (2) AF Nikkor 70-300 mm telephoto, or (3) AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 55-200 mm f/4-5.6G ED. Photography here is modified for web posting using Adobe Photoshop 7.0.  The earliest photography in the archives was done with a Sony Mavica digital still camera (MVC-FD-88) with built-in digital zoom.
