In the Pantheon the following people are buried, inter alia, Rousseau, Voltaire, Diderot, Descartes, Zola, Dumas, and Hugo (against his will). Why aren't Stendahl and Balzac buried there? If Foucault's pendulum, which currently swings at the Pantheon, proved that the Earth rotates every 24 hours, why does the pendulum only rotate 272 degrees each day? And, for extra credit, does Umberto Eco know the answer?
