Friday, August 22, 2008 – Parking Lot Art

The parking lot at Chinois on Main, 2709 Main Street, Santa Monica – Wolfgang Puck's other restaurant, opened in 1983 after his initial success with Spago – considered one of top restaurants in North America.  Think Asian-French-Southwest fusion – Cantonese duck, foie gras, baby back pork ribs in a honey-chili sauce, Louisiana shrimp with Chinese mustard, and Mongolian lamb chops – and you see the parking lot art sort of fits.  Show biz folks hang out here – but not on an early Thursday morning.  No one is around.

Around the corner, we who are not famous frequent the Enterprise Fish Company – and the art you see from the parking lot across the street is amusing.

The lenses used are (1) AF-S Nikkor 18-70 mm 1:35-4.5G ED, or (2) AF Nikkor 70-300 mm telephoto, or (3) AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 55-200 mm f/4-5.6G ED. Photography here is modified for web posting using Adobe Photoshop 7.0.  The earliest photography in the archives was done with a Sony Mavica digital still camera (MVC-FD-88) with built-in digital zoom.
