Gee, movie studios are picturesque, or something. This is Stage 29 at Paramount Studios, on Gower, just north of Melrose Avenue - looking just like a movie studio should, what with the palm tree and all. What do you suppose happens here?
Well, Stage 29 was used in the 2002 production of Star Trek: Nemesis - the large two-story set representing the bridge of the Scimitar was in there. Does anyone at all remember Solid Gold (and the Solid Gold Dancers)? That ran on television from 1980 through 1988, and the last four seasons were produced here. No one remembers The Arsenio Hall Show (no one remembers Arsenio Hall) - here from January 1989 to May 1994.
This part of Paramount is not used much for movies.
Now Stage 29 is home to Doctor Phil - the "tough love" self-help guru. His thirty-eight-year-old son, Jay McGraw, is President and CEO of Stage 29 Productions, and his executive producer. It's a living.
