All aboard!

Camera ready?

This seems to be John Barrymore on Hollywood Boulevard!  No, he's dead, and so it the tree.

John Barrymore and Nat King Cole - together at last.

Shall we take the Caddy?

No, let's take the Hollywood Liberal-Mobile.

But why this yellow "thing" parked at the old Hollywood Athletic Club (6525 Sunset Boulevard), now Social, the hottest club in Hollywood (always full of young stars - the downstairs bar and restaurant are open to the public, but upstairs is strictly members-only)?

In the old days -

  • Johnny Weismuller trained in the pool here for his "Tarzan" films.
  • Actor Cornel Wilde started out here as a fencing instructor.
  • Dick Powell reportedly brought the corpse of John Barrymore here for "one last drink." [see above]
  • John Wayne tossed billiard balls from the roof at passing cars below.
  • According to the Los Angeles Times, Jean Harlow once showed up at the club after she was stood up by Errol Flynn - clad only in a fur coat.

Speaking of being social… and dividing words at just the wrong place…

Sunglasses are pretty much required, Ray-Bans like Tom Cruise wears, although on Hollywood Boulevard someone messed with the Ray-Ban poster.

Hungry?  We can deal with that.

Ketchup is the trendy new restaurant at Sunset Plaza

The hot dog stand is Skooby's, Hollywood Boulevard, and Ketchup is the trendy new restaurant at Sunset Plaza.

But it is time to go.
