Friday, August 8, 2008 – The Quiet Past

On the northwest corner of Robertson and Charleville at the edge of Beverly Hills, at Motor Medic, the past hangs heavy in the air –

A red Lincoln sits quietly, gathering dust –

The past lives on. This appears to be a 1967 Volkswagen Bus – the last year of production for what was the Type II. This is the "21-Window" model, with the canvas sunroof – fully restored to original, showroom condition, and not customized for surfers or anything. It takes you back. The Graduate, Bonnie and Clyde, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? – and In the Heat of the Night and Cool Hand Luke – and the Beatles album, Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Whatever.
