Thursday, August 7, 2008 – West Los Angeles

West Los Angeles, just east of the Twentieth Century Fox studios and just south of Beverly Hills, just doesn't know what it wants to be, so it ends up, by default, being surreal – especially West Pico Boulevard between Beverly and Doheny.  Much of Los Angeles is like that.

This just makes you feel all queasy – a billboard at Pico and Cardiff –

To the left, as if from that Gatsby novel, eyes – or eyeglasses –

Right across the street, as might be necessary here, a Feng Shui consultant –

Of course the Feng Shui consultant shares the building with Brooklyn Pizza, downstairs –

And the adjacent florist, Harbie – and there is no explanation for this –

The neighborhood offers no firm denotations at all –
