Friday, November 21, 2008 – Weekly Bestiary
In the twelfth century, the Bestiary – Bestiarum vocabulum – was quiet popular, illustrated volumes that described various animals, and birds, and even rocks. You got what passed for natural history at the time, and of course each illustration was accompanied by a moral lesson. After all, the world itself was the Word of God, and every living thing had its own special meaning.
Things are different now, and different out here in Hollywood – odd beasts, and no lessons.
