The Seagull – the famous play by Anton Chekhov – a whole bunch of odd characters destined either to wallow in self-pity or indifference, or to consume themselves in frustrated passion – the seagull is what you cannot have – or the seagull, the mindless killer bird in Hitchcock's "The Birds" – his most frightening movie, where the gulls get together to rid the world of man, for no particular reason, or no reason is given – they are just something we will never understand, ever.
