Our Man in Paris is Ric Erickson, editor of MetropoleParis. These photos arrived in Hollywood last weekend, too late for inclusion in the last issue. Some things don't change, so
we have this year's Christmas lights and one more amazing show in a great hall. Scroll down and you'll see we'll always have
Paris.

November 5 – - Big department stores turned on the lights as soon as Halloween was out of the way. - Galeries Lafayette re-runs its lights of yesteryear, but as usual Printemps has new set. - Crowds heavy today, with kids along to see the windows, which I skipped. - Lafayette tree is new every year - this year's not quite as tall as usual, but very dramatic
being nearly black with the red bulbs. November 5 – - Having a sneak expo in the newly reopened Grand Palais. - Free entry this weekend to see 'Passion Transport' - Interesting feature was man-powered balloon, with peddles, with wings. - The Grand Palais is a nifty building suitable for inside balloon flying. - Not quite finished though. Still working on inside and whole outside needs redoing. - At the moment there are
two other major art exhibits on show at the Grand Palais. - Bullet car is original replica of 'Jamais Content,'
record holder as first car to break 100 kph. Did it in 1899 and there was a feature about it years ago in Metropole.
(Note - Recent photos of
the Grand Palais in these pages from Don Smith here and here, and the official site of Les Galeries nationales du Grand Palais should you wish to drop by.)
