This is "Los Angeles: The Living City" - a massive mural by Sandra Drinning from 1990-1991. It's on the west wall of the H & K Supermarket, Western Avenue at 1st - an area that is mainly Korean at the moment. It depicts almost all of the major Los Angeles landmarks, most of which have been documented here. The idea was to capture this mural before it's painted over. As you can see, local taggers have been working from the bottom up to cover it with their own graphics. For further information on the Drinning mural, see Public Art in LA. |
