Thursday, September 30, 2010 – Old Sycamore

Hollywood Professional Building at Sycamore and Hollywood Boulevard - Gothic Revival, John Lautner, completed in 1925

The September light was good – sorry. It's the Hollywood Professional Building at Sycamore and Hollywood Boulevard – Gothic Revival, John Lautner, completed in 1925. It once housed the headquarters of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and later the Screen Actors Guild – Ronald Reagan’s office was here when he was president of the Screen Actors Guild. It's listed in the National Register of Historic Places. And it does catch your eye.

When Reagan looked out his office window he probably saw this fetching young woman across the street at the Christy Lee Apartments, but given who he was he probably paid more attention to the eagle above her head.
