The detours and street closings are starting. Ten days to the Oscars at the Kodak Theater down the street – February 27, at five that Sunday afternoon out here, but primetime back east, in the real world. We're accommodating. But it's getting harder to get around, as happens every year. The visuals are cool of course.

Nothing happens at the old Egyptian Theater just down the street, Sid Grauman's first Hollywood theater, from the early twenties. It's a good place to hide from it all.
