Friday, June 19, 2009 – Fake Manhattan

Maybe it's the old Woody Allen movies on cable, but sometimes you just miss Manhattan. So you bop over to the intersection of Wilshire and Western. The Wilshire Profession Building, 3875 Wilshire Boulevard, Arthur E. Harvey, 1929 – nine stories, Zigzag Moderne with penthouse –

And just down the street, the Wiltern Theatre and Pellissier Building, on southeast corner of Wilshire and Western, built in 1931, designed by architect Stiles O. Clements of Morgan, Walls & Clements, the city's oldest architectural firm –

Across the street, something newer – damn that Mies van der Rohe person –
