Monday, June 1, 2009 – June Premiere
They shut down Hollywood Boulevard again on June 1, for another world premiere of course, this time at the El Capitan. It's The Proposal – fluff, to be released nationwide in a few weeks. But this premiere comes on a dank, overcast day, and everyone involved seems vaguely bored by the whole thing. In 1941, Citizen Kane premiered here. This is no Citizen Kane.

But Hollywood is full of visual ironies. Behind the flats for the movie premiere, a wall of graffiti left over from the weekends' gay rights rally. Irony is fun.

|
And looking down on it all, a new woman on the wall of the Roosevelt Hotel, where they held the first Academy Awards –
