America was at the height of it power in 1962 – John Glenn in space, the Russians backing down and pulling those nuclear missiles out of Cuba, Carson takes over The Tonight Show and "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" wins a Pulitzer. And that year the car you wanted to drive was a big, white Chrysler Crown Imperial. That said it all.
But those days are long gone. Our ambitions and cocky self-assurance took hit after hit over the years. But some of us remember those days, and this is a visual reminder – a 1962 Chrysler Crown Imperial sitting behind a gas station in Malibu. It may have been sitting here since 1962, and it's a reminder, or a warning. Marilyn Monroe died that year.
