The poster is for a 1954 film noir classic, Crime Wave: The City is Dark directed by Andrι De Toth (the 2007 documentary about him is also The City is Dark). Warner Bothers offered De Toth a 35-day shooting schedule for Crime Wave, but he told the studio he could complete the film in fifteen days, if he didn't have to work with Humphrey Bogart, who they were pushing on him. He finished in thirteen. And Sterling Hayden, not Bogart, is Detective Lieutenant Sims and Charles Bronson is Ben Hastings but listed as Charles Buchinsky, Bronson's name before he changed it when he saw the Bronson Avenue gate down at Paramount Studios on Melrose. When this film was being shot in LA and Glendale, in 1952, the working title was Don't Cry Baby. That's always good advice.
