All of us old farts have this or that old jazz album from the late fifties – recorded live at The Lighthouse Café in Hermosa Beach – Gerry Mulligan or Chet Baker or Miles Davis or whatever. It was the West Coast Sound – the Birth of the Cool – and it started here. And in parking lot off Pier Avenue, here's Chet Baker. |
