Photoplay, the first fan magazine, launched in 1911, peaked in the late thirties. It was once home to Hedda Hopper, Walter Winchell, Sheilah Graham, Dorothy Kilgallen and Louella Parsons – and there was health and beauty advice from Sylvia of Hollywood, the first fitness guru to the stars. Cool. But those days are long gone. Photoplay ceased publication in 1980 and its staff was moved to "Us" magazine. Only the residue remains, all along Hollywood Boulevard. And that's the now forgotten Debby Reynolds, by the way, across the street from the now equally obscure Jimmy Dorsey.
